Data Recording

EIBSight Data Warehouse captures all telegrams which were sent on the EIB and interprets them according to their data type and your specification. These telegrams are saved and document what was actually sent on the bus.

Additional processing is performed on the data to normalize it to a time-based structure (Time Scales). In this manner, it is possible tell what value a group address had for over the course of an hour, a day or a month. In this manner, it is easy to see for example what the average current was, the average temperature or how long a light was on in a given time period.

EIBSight's basic unit is an hour. For all of the eib-data which is accumulated in the course of an hour, a weighted average is calculated. Additionally, the initial value, the number of telegrams, the maximum value, the minimum value, the highest and the lowest value ist stored.

From these values, you can query the EIBSight database to get maximum, minimum, average, initial, departing values for the given address on various time-scales.

With this data and depending upon your needs, you can find out things like:

  • The highest numbers of alarms per hour, per day, per weekday, etc.
  • When does the temperature increase most rapidly in the summer, which will allow you to optimize your blinds and cooling systems.
  • What was the average pump volume in each of the first six months - what was the maximum value.

Data Analysis

EIBSight Data Warehouse maintains two different sets of telegram information at your disposal. You may view your telegram data in it's basic format which is an human-readable version (with visible data values and character strings) of the original telegram on the EIB. The original telegram time is maintained. This can use for multiple-reasons, such as debugging.

Time-based data however is where it's really at. In this manner you may load your data in an Excel-like grid format, sort it, group it and even export it to Excel for further processing.

Visual Analysis

EIBSight Data Warehouse includes a powerful charting engine, which allows you to easily visualize your data.

Database Support

EIBSight Data Warehouse is currently available in the basic version bundled with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. The basic version only connects to a database on the local machine.

EIBSight Data Warehouse Advanced Edition works with Microsoft SQL Server 2000, SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition, SQL Server 2005 Express, Workgroup, Standard and Enterprise  Editions as well as MySQL.

Oracle, Firebird, Sybase Editions are available upon request.

EIBSight DataWarehouse allows the long-term recording and analysis of EIB/KNX group address for usage data, performance monitoring, maintenance, debugging, production and ERP, and so on.

EIBSight records the telegrams in a SQL database (SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle) and transforms the data into time-based, human-usable format Data is transformed to usage on a hourly basis – for example if EIS 1 was switch on and off twenty times in the course of an hour, EIBSight will contain the information that the group address was “on” 72% of the time for example and that 20 telegrams were received.

This same logic is applied through all of the revelant EIS values, making it easy to analyze what the motor speed, luminance value, energy use or other numeric value was for the given hour.

This same information can be rolled up into days, weeks, months and so-forth enabling the professional analysis of the information contained within the building network. Some of the limitless uses include:

  • You can tell what the luminance average was for a particular month
  • You can tell how long lights where “on”, “off”, “dimmed” during a month
  • Analyze and optimize blinds and luminance values
  • Manage energy usage
  • Receive usage data for maintenance purposes

EIBSight contains powerful table and charting capabilities allowing you to visualize the data. And with the optional EIBSight Scheduling Service, you can automate the distribution of information (PDF, Graphics and Excel-Spreadsheets) to automatically distribute information to the appropriate people within the organization.

  • Automatically distribute alarms, usage and maintenance information to quality control.
  • Automatically distribute energy-usage, temperatures, climate control systems data
  • Automatically distribute machine-usage, alarms etc. to maintenance
  • Automatically “warn” people when machines, lights or whatever where left on overnight.

Long term trends can also be generated which allows you to see the information not only for a particular hour of a specific day, but rather over a long period of time. You will able to see for example what your typical energy-usage was for each hour of a given day of a certain time frame, enabling you to maximize your energy savings and adjusting the usage to the appropriate rate-schedule.
